LONG BEACH, Calif., Dec. 3, 2010—The first digital edition of Salk International’s Airport Transit Guide will be released to the iTunes Store for downloading on iPhone, iPod, and iPad later this month. This, the 25th Edition, covering ground transportation at 460 airports worldwide, has been completely revised for 2011, and replaces the print edition, which had been published continuously since 1982. It will be available for $9.99, including free updates.
“Here, for the first time in one easy-to-navigate app,” said Editor-in-Chief and Publisher Ron Salk, “the traveler has all the critical ground-transportation data – found nowhere else in one place – for making informed comparisons and money-saving decisions to get from the airport into the city. We’ve made more than 10,000 changes since the last edition, and, now that we are digital, we can offer our thousands of loyal readers interactive dialing and website access to airports and transportation companies all over the world.”
Salk International’s Airport Transit Guide includes: taxi rates to the city and outlying points, plus tipping advice; website-telephone listings of airports, taxi, and shuttle services, most of them accessed by one touch of the screen; airport coach, limo, and van shuttle schedules and prices; train, subway, and bus fares, schedules, and routes; parking rates; car-rental agencies; inter-airport connections; cruise-port transfers; helicopter service; and more.
“Our new app, which has been under development for some six months with Amadeus Consulting, Boulder, Colo., should be available in mid-December,” Salk said. “With its introduction, we are proud to complete the world traveler’s digital arsenal of flight, hotel, and restaurant apps. And, in 2011, we also plan to introduce the app for BlackBerry and Android smartphones.”
