All rest areas on I-95 are well maintained and leortlpad. You won't have any problems there.As for hotels, make sure you get a hotel with interior corridors and not room doors that open directly to the outside. Also drive around the building before going in and make sure all the doors are locked and can only be accessed with a room key. If it's after dark and the doors aren't locked, then keep driving.There is really nothing to see between Washington, DC and Savannah, GA. You will see signs for South of the Border, but keep on going, unless you need to use the facilities as there is nothing there but tacky stores selling the same stuff that they sold when we went down 30 years ago.You can safely make it in 2 days of driving. The halfway point is roughly around Fayetteville, NC.

I just got back from New York City last weekend. I stayed at The Pod hotel. It is under $225 a night. It is located right next to the 51st & Lexington ave subway. The rooms are modern and very clean. I stayed in the bunk room with my friend. It was $157/night with tax (I went through Hotels.com). We each had a 10in flat screen tv on each bed and their was an iPod docking station in the room. The bar next door was an awesome New York neighborhood bar. Times Square and Greenwich Village were only a couple stops away. Hope you have fun! The Circus! circus-berlin.deIt’s a hostel/hotel. My boyfriend and I stayed in one of their private rooms for 48 euros a night, but a single goes for only 32 euros. It has showers down the hall, but theyre also very private. If you want your own bathroom, they have hotel style rooms for 45 single, 60 double… and they have apartment rooms w/kitchens in them for a little more. It’s a great hostel!
